Amma’s Tours
From 1987 through 2019, Amma spent more than 8 months out of every year on the road, holding free public programs throughout India and across the world. In 2023, Amma began to travel internationally again. While receiving Amma’s embrace is the centerpoint of these entirely volunteer-run events, there is truly something for everyone, from meditation and soul-stirring devotional music to practical wisdom and service opportunities. Meeting Amma on tour is to experience compassion in action.
“A continuous stream of love flows from me to all of creation. This is my inborn nature. My duty is to console those who are suffering,”
- Amma

Receive Darshan
Amma welcomes all those who come to her with her motherly embrace, known as her darshan. During this hug, one can directly experience Amma’s unconditional love. On the last night of Amma’s programs in any given city, Amma also gives a mantra to all who wish to receive one.
Meditate with Amma
As an ambassador of peace, Amma offers us daily guided meditations to gain serenity. These include Amma’s MA-OM meditation, in which we learn to focus the mind using these mantras synchronized with the breath, Amma’s white flower meditation for world peace, designed to reduce the negativity and suffering prevailing in today’s world. With these meditations, we are invited to gradually turn the mind inwards until we arrive at an experience of our own silent presence.
Listen to Amma’s talks
Amma gives profound and inspiring spiritual talks during her programs. In these talks, Amma offers words of wisdom and guidance on both personal fulfillment as well as the most pressing matters of our time.
Sing bhajans with Amma
Bhajans are devotional compositions sung in call and response —prayers in a musical form. Over 1,000 original bhajans have been composed by Amma, her disciples and devotees. Amma has sung bhajans in over 50 languages and always includes one in the local language of each program’s location. Amma says that in today’s world, chanting is an especially effective spiritual practice: “By loud singing, one can overcome other distracting sounds and achieve concentration. Chanting, concentration, meditation—this is the progression.”
Volunteer
Amma’s visits are entirely volunteer-run, and provide seva (volunteer) opportunities for anyone who wishes to help. From pre-tour organizing opportunities to cooking, cleaning, greeting, and other activities, everyone is welcome to serve. Beyond making the programs possible, doing seva is a spiritual practice intended to cultivate inner peace and a deep sense of personal fulfillment.

May we thus be able to create a world in which peace and contentment prevail. This is Amma’s sincere prayer.
