In the city known as the cultural capital of Kerala, Amma’s Brahmasthanam Festival at Thrissur radiated with rivers of colourful saris, the glow of pink and yellow lights, and vibrant expressions of ancient traditions. From June 3rd to 4th, thousands gathered for Amma’s embrace.

In her satsang, Amma spoke about gratitude as the foundation of our lives. We are deeply indebted to the world and all its beings, which have nurtured our growth and brought us to where we are today.

“The Earth is our Mother. Nature is our Mother. We must never forget our duty to Her, just as we never turn a deaf ear to the cries of our brothers and sisters,” said Amma.

“Showing compassion to those in need does not require offering them wealth or high status in society. Rather, we should do our utmost to ease their suffering in whatever way we can. A kind word, a compassionate glance, or a simple favour can bring immense light into their lives, and into our own.”

Amma continued to emphasise the urgent need for humankind to take responsibility for the environment

As in all stops, this teaching of Amma’s was put into practice through the distribution of saris and financial assistance to women with Amrita SREE self-help groups across Thrissur. Emanating both courage and calm, the members carried bundles of saris printed with bright, blue flowers to share with members who could not attend the gathering.

Amma is an ocean of compassion, and the sari distribution conducted as part of the women’s self-help groups is a reflection of that ocean’s care.

Witnessing their collective confidence, compassion, and gratitude was a powerful sight. The support will reach 6,000 women across the district, ensuring that their livelihoods and self-confidence continue to flourish.

“Amma is an ocean of compassion, and the sari distribution conducted as part of the women’s self-help groups is a reflection of that ocean’s care,” expressed Swamini Atulyamrita Prana, who leads Amma’s Ashram in Tanur.

“It is not merely a sari; it is Amma’s heart. It is Amma’s care, and a strength imparted to others. The goal of the self-help group project is to bring economically backward women in society to the forefront and uplift them financially.”

In the sanctity of the Brahmasthanam Temple, people gathered to pray for inner peace and world peace. As is the tradition of Amma’s temples, it was the devotees themselves who conducted mass pujas to pacify the chaotic energies of Rahu and strengthen the patience and integrity of Shani.

The two ancient rites were gracefully expressed through connection with the five elements of water, fire, earth, air, and akasha. Chanting the rhythmic, mathematical sound frequencies of Vedic mantras helped to quiet the devotees’ minds, which then spread these pure vibrations to the surrounding environment.

The days in Thrissur flowed into bhajans, meditation, and Amma’s tireless darshan—which continued unbroken into the early hours of the mornings, the Mother of all embracing every soul who had come.

These precious moments included the presence of many distinguished guests who honoured Amma for her visit to Thrissur.

“It is a great blessing as Thrissur’s MP to be able to welcome Amma to this land. Her footsteps have sanctified our soil,” said Sri Suresh Gopi, Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Tourism.

“Amma is an ocean of joy and compassion—let us each become a single drop and dissolve into it,” expressed Dr Mohanan Kunnummal, Vice Chancellor of Kerala University of Health Sciences and Kerala University.

“Amma is a river of flowing energy,” said Smt Shobha Surendran, BJP General Secretary for Kerala. “Even the Prime Minister of our country draws inspiration from her words. It is for us to receive and live by her teachings.”

Several other dignitaries took part in expressing gratitude to Amma as well. On the first day, they included Swami Nandatmajananda of Sri Ramakrishna Math; Guruvayur Devaswom Board Chairman Sri MV Gopinath; and music director Sri Vidyadharan.

On the second day, Thrissur Mayor Dr Niji Justin; renowned film actor Devan; Mafy Delson, Chairperson of the Thrissur Corporation Education & Sports Standing Committee; TV Chandramohan, former MLA and former Chairman of Guruvayur Devaswom; Poonkunnam Division Councillor Raghunath C Menon; and other distinguished figures from politics, culture and industry.

Reflecting on her presence, actor Devan shared, “Amma is wisdom itself. She teaches us to see every being as one.”

Amma now journeys onward to Ernakulam, where the Edappally Brahmasthanam Mahotsava awaits. The yatra continues on June 6 and 7.
