Amma held an online session with students at Amrita University, Haridwar, the university’s tenth campus where its first semester began in September. As Chancellor, she shared timeless wisdom on living in the present, staying focused, and developing inner resilience. The interaction was marked by thoughtful questions from the youth and Amma’s practical yet deeply spiritual responses.
Emphasizing the importance of the present moment, Amma explained that effective action is possible only when the mind is fully engaged with what is being done now. She encouraged students to give undivided attention to their studies and responsibilities, without being burdened by the past or anxious about the future.
On the subject of focus, Amma compared a student’s journey to that of a horse guided by blinders, which help it remain attentive to the path ahead. By avoiding distractions and unnecessary diversions, they can move more efficiently toward their goals.

Addressing concerns about loneliness and emotional challenges, Amma reminded the students that while each person must walk their own life path, at a deeper level all are connected. She encouraged them to seek appropriate guidance from teachers, parents, and elders, while also learning to cultivate self-confidence and inner strength.
Amma stressed the importance of mental strength and perseverance, advising students not to depend entirely on external support for security or happiness. Life, she explained, is constantly changing, and true stability arises from within. Even when setbacks occur, one should continue moving forward without losing sight of one’s goal.
She also outlined the three key factors for success: right action at the right time, sincere effort, and Divine Grace. While effort lies within human control, the final outcome depends on grace shaped by past karma and present actions.
The interaction served as a powerful reminder of Amrita University’s holistic educational philosophy—integrating academic excellence with love, compassion, strength, and spiritual awareness. For the students, the experience was especially meaningful as they continue their academic and personal journeys under Amma’s guidance.
