In a significant step towards strengthening Indo-French ties in areas of mutual interest, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Embassy of France in India. The MoU opens the window for future collaborations in healthcare, education, and social welfare, guided by shared values of compassion, innovation, and community development.
The agreement was formalised during the visit of His Excellency M. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India, to meet Amma in Amritapuri. Along with a high-level French delegation, the discussions centred around Amrita’s sustained work in health, education, and humanitarian outreach.
“It was an interesting exchange with Amma–Mata Amritanandamayi–and her French ashramites on their impactful work in healthcare and education. There is a promising prospect of collaboration between the French Embassy and Amrita Hospital, Faridabad,” said the Ambassador.

Discussions during the visit touched upon potential joint initiatives in areas such as public health outreach, clinical research, knowledge exchange, and social development. The alignment between Amrita’s grassroots service model and France’s commitment to international cooperation forms a strong foundation for future partnerships.
Swami Nijamritananda Puri, Administrative Director of Amrita Hospital Faridabad, remarked, “We are honoured to engage in a meaningful dialogue with the Embassy of France. This association resonates with Amrita’s vision of integrating science, service, and compassion to bring about positive change in society.”
The French delegation accompanying Ambassador Mathou included M. Etienne Rolland-Piègue, Consular General of France in Pondicherry; M. Charles Mahy, Health and Social Affairs Attaché; Ms. Narayani Harigovindan, Secretary for Social Activities; Ms. Margaux Dulongcourty, Communications Lead; and Ms. Julia Trouilloud, Attachée for Literature.
The alliance reaffirms Amrita’s role as a global partner in human development and sets the stage for deeper Indo-French cooperation in the time to come.
