At her 2026 programme in Mysuru, Amma explained that compassion is not a luxury. It is an experience that is essential for humankind to survive.

It is compassion that makes us human. If each person could understand the needs of the living beings around them and act in their service, this world would become heaven. Children, always remember that compassion is a necessity, not a luxury. Without compassion, society’s very existence is threatened.

We should have gratitude in life. We are indebted to the world and to all the beings in it, all of which have contributed towards our growth, nourished us in some way, and brought us to our current state. This earth is our Mother. Nature is our Mother.

We should not forget our duty towards our Mother. We should not turn a deaf ear towards the cries of our brothers and sisters. We should try our best to relieve their suffering in whatever way we can.

To be compassionate towards the poor, one does not need a lot of wealth or a very high position in society. A kind word, a compassionate glance, a small favor, all these can bring light into their lives and into ours as well.

The way of equal vision and unity is the royal path to a beautiful and inclusive world where all differences vanish.

Amma

It is not what we received, but what we were able to give, that determines the value of our life. If we have been able to bring happiness to a soul even for a minute, it is a great achievement in itself. Children, always remember that compassion is a necessity, not a luxury. Without compassion, society’s very existence is threatened.

Man has learned to fly like a bird and swim like a fish, but he has forgotten how to walk and live like a human being. Wherever a turtle crawls, it leaves a trail in the sand. In a similar way, we must try to leave a mark—good memories—before we leave this world.

Patience is a fundamental quality we must have in life. If one impatiently tries to force open a flower bud before it is ready to bloom, its whole beauty and fragrance will be lost. But when one patiently allows that same bud to blossom naturally, the latent beauty and fragrance are fully revealed. Patience is the foundation of all growth.

When love fills the heart and overflows, flowers of peace will blossom all around us. The way of equal vision and unity is the royal path to a beautiful and inclusive world where all differences vanish. As this equal vision increases in society, the lost harmony of the world can be regained. Amma offers a prayer to the Paramātmān that this vision of unity may shine in all her children.
