The second annual meeting for Amrita SREE self-help groups in Kerala’s Ernakulam district took place today in Eloor. Swami Purnamritananda Puri, the General-Secretary of the Mata Amritanandmayi Math, delivered the blessing speech.
Swamiji observed that lakhs of women are joining Amrita SREE SHGs so that they can provide for their families. Through undertaking this work, they are setting an example for all of society about how to live a life of selfless service.
KJ Maxey is the MLA for the Kochi constituency and represents the Communist Party of India (Marxist). In inaugurating the function, he said that Amrita SREE is inspiring women’s empowerment with its members coming together from all spheres of life to establish their rights as citizens.
State Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman TK Jose, KPCC General Secretary Deepti Marie Varghese, BJP State Committee Member CG Rajagopal, and Amrita SREE Coordinator R Ranganathan also addressed the gathering.
Aid was distributed to approximately 10,000 women with Amrita SREE SHGs who attended the meeting. Support included food, clothing, financial assistance, and grain supplies, as well as working capital for each SHG with 20 members.
