Amrita University achieved remarkable success at the AgriXcelerate 2026 – Robotech Week 2026 Hackathon, held at Asia Pacific University (APU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Student teams representing Amrita’s Nagercoil and Amritapuri campuses secured the Gold and Bronze Medals, respectively, in the international competition.
The students from Amrita accomplished this significant achievement by competing against 15 teams from various countries. Amrita’s teams stood out by developing innovative technical solutions to complex challenges in the fields of agriculture and technology.
The Gold Medal was won by the team from the Nagercoil Campus, comprising students C. Manoranjith, G. Gokulprasath, S. Santhosh, S. Chittaranjan Reddy, and B. Megha Shyam. The Bronze Medal was earned by the Amritapuri Campus team, consisting of J.R. Prasanna Hariveeresh, S. Sreehari, V. Rushikesh Yadav, and Parameshwar Sajeesh.
Both teams achieved this success under the expert mentorship of Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam, Director of ‘HuT Labs’ (Humanitarian Technology Labs) at Amrita. Authorities stated that this global victory reflects the strong environment of practical training and research in humanitarian technology, robotics, and artificial intelligence fostered at the University.
Earlier in 2026, students from Amrita also won First and Second positions, along with the Best Design Award, at the 36th International Design Contest IDC RoBoCon held at the Institute of Science Tokyo in Japan.
