Volunteers with AYUDH Americas, MA Center Atlanta, and the Amma Satsang in Asheville, North Carolina joined forces to help care for survivors in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Food, water, and other supplies also brought compassion, relief, and hope.

The city of Asheville and its surrounding area is among the worst hit by one of the deadliest hurricanes to strike the US mainland in the last 50 years. In its aftermath, no roads were open into or out of the city and electricity and cell towers were limited or inoperable.

On October 14, Br. Ramanandamrita Chaitanya led the team to assist in relief efforts with two organisations. They partnered with BeLoved Asheville, a local NGO, to sort, organise, load, and distribute supplies across the city and its neighbouring counties.

Amma’s volunteers then visited The Ayurvedic Institute to deliver essential items such as rice, lentils, quinoa, and blankets. The centre has been preparing meals for 150 to 200 people each day. The volunteers also spent time meeting with community members and listening to their challenges. The gathering concluded with prayers for world peace.
