The Civil 20 working group for Gender Equality & Disability (GED) is inviting all people around the world to participate in a campaign to celebrate women’s empowerment and recognise gender equality. The purpose is to nominate all the lights—individuals and/or organisations that have made a difference in your life or someone else’s to break gender barriers.

The goal is to reach one million nominations worldwide. It can be a father who encouraged his daughter to study, a mother who taught her son to treat women with love and respect, a supportive friend or colleague, an inspiring teacher, an NGO, a school, etc.

Each nomination will be represented as a spark of light on a digital global map, symbolising the spread of collective efforts and illuminating the way towards progress. Selected stories will be shared, and nominees will receive a note of gratitude to inform them that they have been a source of inspiration and support.

Recognising and acknowledging these bright changemakers is a powerful reminder of the impact we can have on others to create a brighter, more positive future for women all over the world. The vision is to come together to create a ripple effect of positivity that leads to a brighter, better future for all—all of humankind and all of Mother Nature.

The initiative was launched on International Women’s Day, March 8th.
