India held the G20 Presidency in 2023, with G20 Leaders meeting in September in Delhi. Engagement groups of non-governmental participants from each G20 country provide policy recommendations for the G20 leaders each year as part of the policy process.
The Indian government asked Amma to chair the Civil 20 engagement group (C20), comprising 16 working groups. C20 provides a platform for Civil Society Organizations from around the world to give voice to people and create policy recommendations that genuinely represent the concerns and needs of society.
“ Let us recognize that it is in our hands to create a world where everyone can live with dignity and lead a life of purpose and fulfillment.”
The 2023 initiatives included more than 6,000 civil society organizations from 154 countries and connecting with more than 4.5 million people worldwide through mass outreach campaigns to address health, environment, and community empowerment.
We led five of the C20 working groups. Each of these working groups held 100s of webinars, outreach initiatives, meetings, and held summits around India. They collaborated with 1000s of CSOs to create significant initiatives and policy recommendations that will have a lasting positive impact for years to come.
The working group focused on Mental Health, Nutritional Health, Women and Children, Elderly Health and End-of-life care, Holistic Health, One Health ( The connection between humans, animals, and the environment), as well as Communicable Diseases.
The focus areas were Digital Transformation and Accessibility, Education for Life & Global Citizenship, Education for Persons with Disabilities, Learning Equity, Education Technology and Future of Education, Skill Development, and Education in Emergencies.
The key focus areas pertaining to their theme were Physical and Mental Health, Economic Empowerment and Sustainable Livelihood, Education and Skill Development, Society and Culture, Engaging Men and Boys, Safety and Security, and Environment and Disasters.

The logo of C20 India 2023 symbolizes the flame of hope, self-motivation, and selfless service.
