Amma Spiritual

Amma visited the Shri Rama Mandir in Ayodhya for the first time yesterday, reflecting on the beauty of a sacred space built through the unity of artisans and labourers from across the country. Tomorrow, March 19, she and the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, will lead the installation of the Shri Rama Yantra.

Amma met with journalists today and shared her vision of how the yantra’s ancient symbolism will help awaken the divine power that eternally resides within all human hearts.

Amma’s Message to Media

Amma does not have any personal likes or dislikes of her own. Whatever people want, according to that Amma does the work. What Amma sees is people’s faith, their empowerment, and their happiness. Amma moves forward based on that, not based on her own preferences.

About the installation of the Rama Yantra, it is a symbol of knowledge. There is a need to enter into it more deeply, to understand its elements, and to internalize it. That is what Amma feels. Just as worship and consecration of the idol have been done, the yantra represents the deeper knowledge and the principle behind it.

When we absorb that knowledge, we will be able to face all circumstances of life without tension or trouble and move forward with stability. It acts like a shock absorber, helping us withstand calamities and obstacles, and also serves as a yantra to avert them.

Just as the consecration of an idol is performed, the consecration of this yantra is meant for awakening the power within. Through its establishment, the Ojas (vitality) and Prana (life force) associated with it are enhanced and radiated.

Just as the ocean rises under the influence of the moon, in the same way, the same power exists within us, and through the establishment of the yantra, that power is awakened. It has to rise within us.

In Lord Rama’s life, there are countless values that we should imbibe. For example, when Mother Sita was abducted, he went all the way to Lanka, brought her back, but did not establish his rule over that kingdom, even though he could have.

Instead, he returned what was lost and crowned Vibhishana, handing over the Kingdom of Lanka to him and returning to Ayodhya. Even the smallest voice in his own kingdom was given importance. Even a washerman’s words were considered. When one is in the position of a king, it is necessary to uphold the dharma of that role.

Just as in today’s offices, when a complaint arises, there is first a suspension followed by an inquiry and then reinstatement, similarly, in the case of Mother Sita, there was first a separation and later, after everything was established, she was accepted again.

All powers exist within us. We are like a supercomputer, yet we use it only for small things. This teaching reminds us to look within and realize that all powers are already present inside us. It is a call to move from the state of Jiva (individual being) towards Atma (the Self), towards the consciousness of Rama.

True faith leads to unity. Real faith is the understanding that everything is God. It takes us towards oneness. In true faith, there is no division—there is both creation and the Creator as one.

The very fact that all of you are sitting here and listening shows that faith exists within you. Faith in Rama or in one’s chosen deity leads to expansion, to inclusiveness, and to embracing everyone.

When a person thinks only about oneself, disintegration happens, and people begin to move in different directions. If we say our own mother is good but insult another’s mother, it cannot be tolerated. But if we extend the same feeling we have for our own mother towards everyone, then the awakening of oneness will happen.
