Forty-eight researchers with Amrita University have been named in the 2026 edition of the global citation database widely known as the “World’s Top 2% Scientists” list, published in the Elsevier Data Repository using Scopus data.

Elsevier is a global publisher of scientific and academic research. Its Scopus database indexes research publications and tracks citations, providing the data used for the assessment.

How the scientific impact is measured

The 2026 update measures career-long citation impact up to the end of 2025 and single-year impact based on citations received during 2025. It uses standardised citation indicators, including a composite score that accounts for co-authorship and author positions. Selection includes researchers among the top 100,000 by composite score or within the top 2% of their respective subfields.

Seventeen of Amrita’s scientists feature in the career-long category and 44 in the single-year category, with 13 appearing in both. Their fields span medicine, engineering, material sciences, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, energy, education, and business and management.

Amrita alumni among the world’s top scientists

Deepening the distinction, four of the faculty are also alumni of Amrita—Dr. Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh, Pro Vice Chancellor; Dr. Raghu Raman, Dean with the School of Business; Dr. Prema Nedungadi, Associate Dean, School of Computing; and Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam, Professor in Electronics & Communication Engineering.
