Self-Reliance. Education. Employment. Today in India, there are 15,000 Amrita SREE Self-Help Groups with 250,000 members. For 2025, annual meets continued in Southern Kerala with gatherings in Thiruvalla, Thrissur, Kottayam, Alappad, and Ernakulam.

More than 44,500 women were reached with Amma’s vision to instill their lives with independence and self-confidence.

“What Amma taught us is that we don’t have to feel disappointed. We must use the power inside us and realize the miracles that will happen in our life and the opportunities life will create for us. For such opportunities, Amma’s projects across India have all been successful beyond imagination.”
– Swami Purnamritananda Puri at the gathering in Ernakulam

Each SHG was given seed funding to support this year’s business ventures.

As well, the members received saris and personal financial support to mark their efforts.

Amma began Amrita SREE in 1997 to help women overcome poverty, abusive relationships, and lack of education.

The members awaken their inherent strength as manifestations of the Divine Feminine.

And are inspired to join hands to empower themselves, even in life’s most difficult challenges.

In this member’s case, her sisters are supporting her as she undergoes cancer treatment.

Beyond their SHGs, the women also compassionately reach out to others in their communities to provide shelter, medical care, and other basic needs.
Members share their thoughts for this year:

“A society can be transformed with women. Women have to come forward in all fields.”

“I gained the confidence to show up for myself when I joined Amrita SREE.”

“Everything is going well, and everyone is doing their best.”

“We can call it a grace because we get ₹1,500 as a pension, and the sari is truly a symbol of hope to all.”

“Our activities are bringing happiness. There are no words to thank Amma.”
