Another 10,000 Amrita SREE self-help group members attend a meeting in Cherthala, Kerala.
Kerala’s Minister of Agriculture said that the role of women in leading the family has become crucial today. P Prasad represents the Cherthala constituency in Alappuzha and spoke at the district’s third annual meeting for Amrita SREE SHGs.
Ten thousand women with SHGs in the region received relief packages of food, clothing, and financial assistance. In addition, ₹30,000 of working capital was given to each SHG with 20 members.
Prasad, who is a social worker by profession, said that the reason for such progress by women is SHGs like Amrita SREE driving forward a change in society’s definition of women’s roles. He added that Amma is setting the example for how one’s own positive attitude leads to progressive change for society overall. As the world now faces grave difficulties, Amrita SREE is helping its members establish themselves as examples to follow.
Shirley Bhargavan, Cherthala’s Municipal Chairperson, also addressed the gathering. She said that in this era women across many fields are coming together and through self-employment, are making tremendous advancements for themselves and their communities.
Swamini Bhavyamrita Prana delivered the blessing speech. Former MLAs Shanimol Osman and AN Rajan Babu also addressed the gathering, alongside BJP District President MV Gopakumar.
