Welcome to the new Amma.org
We’ve merged the Amrita World and Embracing the World websites into this new site.
A large number of children who live in slums and villages drop out of school. Many of their parents are uneducated, and not able to help them study at home. In some cases, they actually need the children to go out and earn.
Amma wished to show them that supporting their children’s education would in fact lead to a better future for their families. In 1995, we began an after-school tutoring program to reach them.
Then in 2013, the work vastly expanded through a digital education program that uses tablets to encourage school attendance in remote and tribal areas. Drawn by the technology, the children gain access to quality education.
At our afterschool centers, they are given supplementary tutoring to ensure they get the support they need to stay in school. We also provide the students with notebooks, pens and other necessary school supplies.
Today, students from 1,220 villages across 22 states have been reached.
Amma offers us the possibility to connect online with her on a daily basis. During these livestreams, we can meditate with Amma, chant bhajans (devotional singing) and hear spiritual teachings.
