As a member organization of the United Nations’ “Billion Tree Campaign,” we have organized the planting of more than a million trees globally since 2001. In the beautiful, peaceful hills of our U.S. headquarters, M.A. Center San Ramon located in California, hundreds of trees are already thriving under the impressive care of the residents.
In March, 2015, our volunteers organized an event to plant even more new trees on the grounds. Together, our volunteers worked tirelessly to dig holes, and plant the saplings in the ground. According to one of our volunteer, studies have shown that when people work with their hands in microbe-rich compost, dopamine and oxytocin are naturally released into the bloodstream, literally making people feel happier and more content. Proving the science behind the common expression “Gardening is cheaper than therapy.” All those who attended the event felt inspired to plant more trees, not only for the earth, but for their happiness and peace of mind as well.
