It has come to our attention that fraudsters are circulating deepfake videos of Amma (Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi) on social media platforms and messaging apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Telegram. These scams use deepfake technology to clone Amma’s voice, likeness and visuals and fraudulently make it appear as if Amma is requesting subscriptions, other financial payments, or personal information. These videos are fake.
We wish to warn the public at large about these fraudulent activities. Please ignore any message or video you may receive, purportedly endorsed by Amma either directly or indirectly, that requests your financial or personal information. For your own safety, please avoid clicking a link associated with one of these videos, and/or divulging your personal and financial information under the impression that Amma is promoting it.
Financial loss and/or identity theft could result from the transfer of money or personal information to the perpetrators of these fraudulent schemes. Victims of such scams may report them to their local law enforcement authorities for appropriate action.
