A burst of creativity and happiness was witnessed at the Amrita Vidyalayam Schools in Kerala. The district-level competitions held as part of the One World, One Heart programme have concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from students across the state. The vision is to celebrate Malayalam as a language of love for the entire world.
The competitions were held at 23 centres in Kerala for students from classes VIII to XII, with around 3,500 students participating in various categories, including sub-junior, junior, and senior categories. The events included painting, essay writing, and quiz competitions, designed to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and awareness among young minds.
The celebrations are in honor of Amma’s historic speech at the UN marking its 25th anniversary. It was the first and only time an address was made in Malayalam at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York. It became a landmark that echoed Amma’s message of universal compassion, unity, and global harmony. As part of this memorable moment, the One World, One Heart programme was launched by Amrita University.

The winners of the competitions at the district will qualify for the final round, which is going to be held on January 12th, 2026, at Amrita University, Amritapuri campus. Approximately ₹15 lakh ($16,500) worth of prizes are waiting for the winners of the final round, recognising excellence and encouraging youth engagement with Amma’s vision of “One World, One Heart.”
Another range of complementary programmes is also being arranged by Amrita University, which includes exhibitions and thematic presentations, as part of the larger celebration, highlighting the enduring relevance of Amma’s message in addressing contemporary global challenges.
