Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri’s visit to Amma’s devotees in Kuwait inspired love, compassion, and humanitarian action in hundreds of hearts. Swamiji is Amma’s most senior disciple and this was his 28th annual program in the country.

From January 23 to January 27, 2025, their efforts ranged from profound spiritual gatherings to reaching out to migrant workers. With Amma as their guiding light, they lived and breathed their chosen theme—Healthier, Happier, Stronger as ONE.

Among the most moving moments were two nights of public programs with Swamiji where he led prayers to Amma, inspired introspection through meditation and spiritual talks, and united everyone through his indescribable devotion in singing bhajans. For the 250 people who took part, it was as if they could feel Amma herself join the events.

The evenings then culminated in joy when children and adults alike shared their traditional roots in the form of dance and musical performances. It was an exchange of expression that brought delight to Swamiji to see Amma’s devotees in such celebration of India’s cultural heritage.

During Swamiji’s visit also came the practical expression of Amma’s teachings to love and serve all—compassion in action. One of Amma Kuwait’s focuses is to reach those in need and, as such, they are an official organisation registered with the Embassy of India. At the public programs, they distributed free foodgrain kits to 28 women domestic workers.

A larger initiative happened on the morning of January 24th. Volunteers organised a free medical camp for migrant workers and other people in need of support. Around 130 patients both from India and other countries benefited from the services. The camp was conducted in association with Medex Medical Group Fahaheel and coordinated by Dr Sreekrishnan with Amma Kuwait.

Swamiji’s visit also included support for the overall wellbeing of the Amma Kuwait community. To contribute, Brahmachari Viveka from the Amritapuri Ashram conducted sessions for Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique (IAM) and Amrita Yoga. Around 40 people took part in this free session, which was organised by Dr Medhini Menon, Amma Kuwait.

Another innovative workshop reached out to children and youth on the topic of ‘Resilience & Emotional Intelligence: Tools for Life’. Brahmachari Kaushik Rajaram, a Senior Analyst with the Amrita Institute of Advanced Research, shared this knowledge with both the students and their parents. Ms Harshini Ramesh with AYUDH Kuwait coordinated the event.

In keeping with the high resonance of his visit, Swamiji had a formal meeting with His Excellency Dr Adarsh Swaika, the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, at the Indian Embassy on January 27th.

Overall, many like-minded individuals joined hands with Amma Kuwait to bring these inspiring days to fruition. The public programs included members from various Indian community associations such as Art of Living Kuwait, Acharyakulam Kuwait, BPP Kuwait, Brahmakumaris, Chinmaya Mission, Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), Indian Doctors Forum (IDF), NSS Kuwait, NAFO Global, Samskrita Bharati, Samskriti Kuwait, Saradhi Kuwait, Sathya Sai, and Seva Darshan.

Special guests who joined Swamiji to light the lamp at public events were Mr Wadhavanji, President of IBPC and Patron of Amma Kuwait; Dr Sameer Humad, President of IDF; Dr Susovana, Gen Secretary of IDF; Brahmakumari Pavitra Sangwan, Harmony House; Mr Suresh Priyan, Gen Secretary of IBPC; and Dr Vinod Grover and Dr Saroj Grover, IDF. Mrs Moli Divakaran and Mrs Sreela Raviprasad from Amma Kuwait were the coordinators.

Finally, Swamji’s 28th visit to Kuwait was successfully conducted under the leadership of Mr Divakaran Ammanath, President of Amma Kuwait, with overall coordination done by Mr Rilesh Krishnan, and ably supported by Amma Kuwait Core Group members and the many volunteers.
