Students & Faculty of Amrita University offered their tribute to the 44 CRPF men who were martyred in a terror attack at Pulwama. The event was held at the Amritapuri campus and was attended by 17 CRPF personnel of the F/221 Bn CRPF unit stationed at Amritapuri. CRPF Inspector Jonah Alfred shared his views on the tragic incident. Dr. Balakrishnan Shankar, Associate Dean of Amrita School of Engineering and Dr. S.N. Jyothi, Pincipal of the School of Engineering, spoke, as did some students.
Para-military personnel, students and faculty offered floral tributes to the fallen heroes which were followed by the lighting of lamps. The CRPF anthem was also sung. The ceremony concluded with a two-minute silent prayer followed by the national anthem.
Amrita University’s Coimbatore campus also organized a similar event amidst the annual national tech fest- ANOKHA – which was happening at the campus. Thousands of students and staff from various institutions all over the country joined the event by lighting candles and praying for the families of the brave sons of India.
