The Govt of India has ranked Amrita University the 7th best university in the country for 2024. The acknowledgement is by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Education. Amrita becomes one among the few higher education institutions to figure in the Top 10 Universities list eight times in a row, from 2017. Founded in 2003, it is also the youngest institution in the list.
Ranked 8, Amrita School of Medicine is in the top 10 medical colleges in the country. Along with that, Amrita School of Pharmacy is ranked 13 in the Pharmacy Education Category, while Amrita School of Dentistry ranked 14 in the Dental Education Category. Amrita School of Engineering ranked 23. Amrita (ranked 18) is also among the only three private universities to find a place in the list of Top 20 Universities in the ‘Overall’ category.
This is ample testimony to the vision of Amma as Chancellor in setting the dual goals of education for life and compassion-driven research.
Dr P Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor of Amrita
As a leading multi-campus, multi-disciplinary teaching and research institution, it is a high recognition of Amrita’s achievements. NIRF is based upon a methodology for the national-level annual ranking of higher education institutions. It evaluates institutions under the parameters of five broad generic groups: teaching, learning & resources, research & professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach & inclusivity, and perception.
“Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and its medical college once again finding a place in the Top 10 in the NIRF Rankings 2024 is ample testimony to the vision of Amma as Chancellor in setting the dual goals of education for life and compassion-driven research,” said Dr P Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor.
“The recognition would not have been possible without the tireless efforts put in by the students and staff, and I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the Government of India in bestowing this honour. I am happy and humbled with the consistency in the recognition of the academic excellence, outstanding faculty and world-class infrastructure that the university is known for.”
It is to be noted that for 2021, Amrita received the highest possible A++ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous institution assessing and accrediting India’s higher education institutions.
As well, for 2024, the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings rated Amrita University #81 in the world and in #1 India for the fourth year in a row. THE’s rankings assess how university research contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Amrita is headquartered at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and spread across eight campuses in five states—Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana. The university globally partners with academic, industry, and governmental institutions to accomplish human-centered, translational, and groundbreaking research.
