Amrita Hospital is the first hospital in Kochi to implement G-Gaiter – a robotic gait trainer, revolutionising brain and spinal injury therapy. The system is powered by AI technology and redefines rehabilitation through its targeted movement therapy, offering patients improved motor function and independence.
Dr. Ravi Sankaran, Head of Rehabilitative Medicine, highlights the transformative impact of robotics, especially the advanced G-Gaiter, in helping thousands of patients regain mobility and enhance their quality of life.
Available to both in-patients and out-patients, the system also offers unique therapies like neural therapy and non-invasive brain stimulation. The G-Gaiter system uses immersive VR scenarios to improve patient engagement and recovery.
A notable feature is its ability to create a dynamic environment resembling everyday scenarios, such as walking in a park or engaging in social activities like enjoying tea. This immersive component not only distracts patients from the clinical setting, but also instills confidence and alertness, contributing to their overall well-being.
Developed by Gen Robotics, a Kerala-based startup, the G-Gaiter system represents a significant milestone in rehabilitative care, aligning with Amrita Hospital’s commitment to delivering state-of-the-art medical solutions to its patients.
The Amriteswari Society of Singapore is honoured to have donated the G-Gaiter to Amrita Hospital, Kochi, furthering Amma’s mission of compassionate service worldwide. Through this contribution, the society reaffirms its commitment to supporting and embodying Amma’s vision of alleviating suffering and promoting healthcare innovations that truly serve and uplift the less fortunate.
