Fashion 4 Development, a philanthropic organization aiming to unite the fashion world with charitable and sustainable practices, recently awarded their “Medal of Honor” to Amma in recognition of her tireless efforts through Embracing the World to bring about positive change in the world.
Fashion 4 Development was founded in 2011 by Evie Evangelou, who has extensive experience working in diplomacy and international trade, in tandem with the UN. The organization aims to promote positive social change by implementing strategies for sustainable economic growth for communities worldwide. They aim to use the fashion world as a link between different sectors to address human rights issues. The organization hosts a First Ladies Luncheon in conjunction with the UN General Assembly in New York each year, and presents a variety of awards.
During the award ceremony, the organization emphasized Amma’s assistance in helping poor people gain access to water, power, housing, medical care, education, and skill-training. The award was accepted Br. Dayamrita Chaitanya on behalf of Amma.
