“Every calamity—be it a pandemic, natural disaster, or climate change—urges humankind to cultivate three things: Cooperation, Companionship, and Communion. We need to live in cooperation with our fellow human beings, in companionship with Nature, and in communion with God. Failure to do so—even a little—will negatively impact all aspects of our lives,” said Amma.
She was addressing the gathering of thousands of people in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. The event on February 11 was the second stop of her South India Tour, which took place at Amrita University’s campus there. Amma emphasised that humanity must recognise and take responsibility for the damage done to our Earth.
“Humankind has been tormenting Mother Nature for generations. All this time, she has patiently forgiven us, continuing to pour her compassion and love upon us. But this won’t continue much longer,” Amma continued.
“We have mistaken Mother Nature’s compassion and patience for weaknesses. We have forgotten that Nature is a powerful force—just as capable of retribution as redemption. Therefore, let us learn to bow our heads in humility before Nature. Let us treat Nature with love and respect.”

Eager to see Amma and receive her blessings, faces were alight with inspiration—both from her powerful words and the simplicity of her divine presence. She led meditation and bhajans, instilling hearts with love, peace, and relief. As an outward expression of her compassion, Amma distributed thousands of saris to women with AmritaSREE Self-help Groups in the district.
The event had begun at 6pm with a ceremonial welcome by distinguished guests. They included Swami Chaitanyanandaji of Vivekananda Ashram, Vellimalai; Swami Nijanandaji of Chinmaya Mission, Kumaracoil; B. Karthikeyan, District Judge of Kanyakumari; Commodore Anilkumar from INS Kattabomman (Indian Navy); Nivedita Bhide, President of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari; and Aniruddhan Thampi, representing the Nagercoil Press Club.
Amma then personally embraced everyone who arrived, with her darshan finally finishing nearly 12 hours later.
