Swami Dayamritananda Puri visited a rural school in the Toluca district in Mexico. The community faces the multi-dimensional challenges of endemic poverty. He announced that Embracing the World and the local devotees would adopt the school’s children to help provide for basic needs and educational supplies.
Swamiji is the Executive Director of MA Centers in the Americas. He compassionately spoke to all the kids, families, teachers, and struggling government officials to give them some peace of mind. He let them know they are seen and heard.
The school is part of Mexico’s CONAFE system with the Ministry of Public Education. It is a decentralised organisation whose task is to provide basic educational services to children and adolescents who live in highly marginalised areas. They are communities where there is often no access to utilities and services such as electricity, running water, or sewage systems.
Swamiji also met with Lic. Berenice Olmos Sánchez who is CONAFE’s Territorial Operational Coordinator of Educational Services, National Council for Educational Development, State of Mexico. They spoke about the comfort and needs of the children, as well as their parents, the women of the village, and the people at large.
