ViswaSanthi, a non-profit organisation established by actor Mohanlal in the name of his parents, has launched the Amrita-ViswaSanthi Health Care Project. The project, in association with our Amrita Hospitals, will bear the entire expenses of heart surgeries for children under the age of 18 years belonging to socio – economically backward sections.
Shri Mohanlal inaugurated the scheme on the occasion of his mother’s birthday at a function held at Amrita Hospital in Kochi. The first beneficiary, Simran, a five year old girl from Bihar, was present at the function along with members of her family.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Mohanlal said that ViswaSanthi Foundation was formed to support poor sections of society. Last year, the foundation distributed about ₹2 crores ($240,000 USD) of financial aid in Kerala. In associating with us, the foundation is now planning to reach out to other states as well.
