In September 2012, an extreme amount of precipitation known as a cloudburst created a flash flood in the village of Chunni in Uttarakhand, the Northern most state of India. 60 lives were taken and 55 houses were swept away. Ram Singh was one of the survivors of the flood who lost his home and had been living in a tin shed ever since. He also lost his two sons, daughter-in-law and one grand daughter in the flood. He and his wife, who is nearly blind survived and are raising their remaining grandson together.
