During the Maha Kumbh Mela, which happens once in 12 years, millions of people throng to the banks of the River Ganges. This occasion, which marks the largest gathering of humans on the planet, requires critical assistance in areas such as information services and medical facilities. As an act of support, we set up help centers in Prayag Raj to aid the pilgrims who are attending the 2019 Maha Kumbh.

Our medical support center provides free care to the sadhus and the public. The medical team is headed by General Surgeon Dr. Yuvaraj and supported by Dr. Bharath Pillai and Dr. Sridhar from our Amrita Hospital, along with a team of 10 paramedics. The team examines 150 to 200 patients every day. So far, over 2,500 people have received assistsance.

In addition to the medical support center, a well-equipped Telemedicine van is also conducting medical camps across the length and breadth of the huge area of Kumbh Mela. Reaching remote, inaccessible places with ease, this advanced mobile healthcare unit conducts various diagnostic services such as ECG, ESR, GRBS, and (sugar) blood tests, etc… The mobile unit also visited Sarai-Nuruddinpur, a remote village located 20 kms. away from Prayag Raj. To date, medicines worth 7 lakhs have been distributed free of cost at the Kumbh Mela.

The center also provides facilities for spiritual & cultural activities such as performing Havan and chanting Lalita Sahara nama for the sadhus.
