Mother's Kitchen - Covenant House

Oct 6, 2019 8:30am-11:00am (ended)

Every first Sunday of the month is dedicated to preparing and serving food to the youth living in the Covenant House shelter. If you would like to help out with preparation, cooking or serving please contact Bhuvana: bhuvana.skrishnan@gmail.com. New volunteers are always welcome.

WHAT IS MOTHER'S KITCHEN

Mother's Kitchen was founded In 1996 as an Embracing the World initiative to help serve those in need in North America. The initiative started on a shoestring budget in Oakland, serving free meals to a small soup kitchen every weekday.

The idea spread and soon Mother’s Kitchens began popping up all over the map - today, Mother’s Kitchen groups across the US, Canada and Costa Rica prepare, cook and serve 150,000 meals for the homeless and hungry each year. Mother's Kitchens help existing facilities by purchasing food and supplies from donations made by sponsors and by supplying volunteers to prepare, cook and serve the meals.
