Our Projects

Mothers Kitchen

Mothers Kitchen started in Ann Arbor in 1997. Since then every Saturday, different satsang members and friends lovingly prepare and serve at the Salvation Army’s Staples Family Center, a homeless family shelter in Ann Arbor. Meals are provided for about 30 people (adults and children). Average cost to sponsor a meal for the whole group is $50.00, which is generously sponsored by satsang members.

Motor Meals

Ann Arbor's Meals on Wheels program reduces hunger and food insecurity, and supports the dignity and independence of the homebound in the Ann Arbor area by delivering nutritiously balanced meals six days a week. Meals on Wheels clients are primarily older adults or individuals with disabilities who are unable to shop and cook for themselves.

Meals are delivered by volunteers. This visit also serves as a safety or wellness check, with volunteers reporting back any concerns they have to Meals on Wheels staff. For many of our clients, a volunteer is the only person they see all day

Volunteers deliver 10-13 meals, taking 1-2 hours to complete a route. Meals are picked up at 10:30 on Saturdays (9:30 on holidays and Saturdays August - December). Volunteers can choose the day and frequency for delivering meals that works with their schedule

Integrated Amrita Meditation

The IAM - Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique® is a powerful way to reconnect with our real center, our inner Self, and thereby experience true joy and peace in life. Born out of Amma's deep resolve for our spiritual enhancement, this technique, when practiced with dedication, is designed to bring about integration in our lives - an integration of body, mind, intellect and heart. Like all spiritual practices, meditation has one ultimate purpose: to lead us to permanent spiritual experience. This experience lies within us, in the form of wisdom, peace, bliss and love. Who among us doesn’t pray for these blessings, both for ourselves and this earth, our home Classes and refresher classes are held every quarter and/or by demand

Amrita Farms at the Amma Center of Michigan

Amrita Farms at the Amma Center Michigan is devoted to community enrichment through agri-science research and education. We facilitate real world and hands-on education programs designed to empower people through working with Nature.

With awareness of sustainability and our impact on planet Earth rising, many people are looking for ways to train and skill themselves towards a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Amrita farms offers numerous sustainability courses in a variety of disciplines - permaculture food systems, renewable energy, bee keeping, natural building, compost making and so much more.

Amrita Farms has also launched "The Future Farm" - our approach to place based K-12 education. Through embracing the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) platform on a working organic farm, we offer students and teachers an unforgettable experience in whole systems learning.

In 2015, we welcomed our first group of University research residents. As part of their residency, participants completed their 72 hour Permaculture Design Course (PDC), earning their certification. Residents also completed farm integrated research projects, on topics ranging from permaculture apple orchards to meditation in K-12 Schools.

Please consider joining us on this journey to wholeness, as our experienced teachers lead hands on courses designed to give students a strong foundation towards Nature's pathFor more information, or to schedule a Future Farm experience for your students, please email: info@amritafarms.com
