Tube Socks for the Homeless

As part of the MA Center New England’s Embracing the World projects, we are initiating our annual Tube Socks for the Homeless.  The homeless suffer in a multitutde of ways including beingvulnerable to the elements especially in cold and wet weather. These individuals are in need of protecting their feet.

This year, we will be donating new tube socks to Amos House, located in Providence Rhode Island. Amos House manages the largest soup kitchen in the state, provides social services to over 15,000 people a year and housing nearly 165 men, women and children a night.

Tube Socks for the Homeless Embracing the World Project was started in the Fall of 2015 at MAC New England. Last year we donated over 500 pairs of socks to a prviously identified shelter.

The homeless need and appreciate the tube socks. We will be collecting and donating them to Amos House throughout the Winter and into early Spring. There are a number of ways you can donate:

  • Purchase white tube socks and leave them in the designated blue bin located in the back porch of the Ashram. You can purchase packages of white tube socks at big box stores. Alternatively, Amazon has a listing for a six pack of Hanes over the calf tube socks for $8.99.
  • Donate a check made out to “MAC New England” and note “Socks for Homeless” on the memo line of the checks. Please give the check to Krishna. Or, you can mail the check to:
