Uri Adi: Men,Women and children take turns trying to break a pot filled with treats tied to a tree branch using a pulley. The pot is raised and lowered when participant make a dash to break the pot while water is being sprayed on you. The game is similar to Piñata, except you are not blindfolded. This is to remember how fun filled Vrindavan was with Krishna trying to break pots, stealing butter. Please do not forget to bring spare clothes.

9:00 PM: 108 names of Amma, Satsang by Br.Ramanandji, plenty of lively bhajans.

Midnight Celebrations: Welcoming Lord Krishna with devotional fervor. The Birth of Lord Krishna at midnight is a very special ceremony. The idol of baby Krishna is brought and then rocked in a cradle. A popular belief is that any wish made while rocking the cradle is fulfilled on this day. The entire Ashram echoes with the sound of the conch (shankh) and ringing of bells. Devotees pray and welcome the lord with lively bhajans and chants.

Significance

These festivities have an inner meaning beyond being obvious ways to express devotion to the Lord. They aim to capture the various playful activities that Lord Krishna indulged when he was a kid. The true meaning though, is that there are usually several impediments towards finding our inner Self. Despite such obstacles, we should always strive to come out of our ignorance and seek the truth and knowledge. That is truly God’s gift for us.
