Karthika Day Celebration- DC

Dec 2, 2017 4:00pm-8:00pm (ended)

A monthly birthday is traditionally observed in India that is based on the moon’s position in addition to the annual birthday observed in the West, which is based on the sun’s position. According to the Indian calendar, Karthika is the nakshatram (star constellation) in which the moon was transiting at the time of Amma’s birth, and so each time the moon returns to this spot in the heavens, approximately every 28 days, it is considered to be Amma’s birthday. This day is dedicated to Amma and is traditionally celebrated by Her children across the globe by doing various spiritual practices.
It is held in Amritapuri as well as most Amma centers around the world on the day of Karthika Star (Amma’s birth star). We observe the auspicious Karthika Day  at M.A. Center DC. Please join us in offering special prayers for world peace on these occasions.

The Karthika day observance would include:

  • Brief Meditation
  • 108 Names of Amma
  • Mahishasura Mardini Stotram
  • Bhajan
  • Prayer for World Peace
  • Arati
