Support $1M  Pledge for Philippines Relief

In November, immediately after the Philippine Islands were hit by the largest storm ever to make landfall, Amma pledged $1M in aid. One part of it has been specifically earmarked for children and their educational needs. We expect to implement appropriate fund raising projects as well as encourage individual donations. Join in the brain-storm to meet this pledge.

Collaborate on Days of Service / Selfless Service

Amritavarsham 60 inspired several hundred people from the M.A. Center to  collaborate with Habitat for Humanity, Save the Bay, Glide and St. Anthony’s meal serving programs. The Amrita Bala Kendra children expanded their food packing project, South Bay began their own kitchen for the homeless, and Santa Cruz satsang did a major beach clean-up.

Let us continue these service projects, make them regular events, expand if we can, and fulfill Amma’s wish that her children do all they can to serve humanity. This initiative also has underlying benefits: expanding collaboration with community organizations engaged in exemplary projects, as well as strengthening local satsangs.

     Focus on InDeed Commitments

Among last year’s initiatives was the InDeed Campaign for Nature, a conservation and sustainability model under the umbrella of Embracing the World. Headlines and scientific studies of 2013 confirm that individual, group and government action is needed. Let us all utilize the InDeed roadmap for helping to restore the lost balance between man and nature.

Revisit the InDeed website and plan ways that you, your family, and your satsang will collaborate on any of the commitments. They are: Conserve water; Reduce your carbon footprint; Plant a tree; Grow your own vegetables; Carpool; Build a house for birds or bugs.  Please see:  http://www.embracingtheworld.org/indeed/
