Community Seva Day at M.A. Center, San Ramon

The Center's resident birds had company on Saturday, March 14 as the sweet sound of Amma's 108 names filled the early morning air. Volunteers from around the Bay Area started Community Seva Day with meditation and prayer, then teamed up to tackle ashram improvement projects. Everyone brought good will and a selfless attitude, creating a heartwarming sense of community.

With over 150 people participating, the community completed several major projects, including

Three coats of paint on the interior of Amrita Hall
Weeks' worth of weeding around Amrita Hall
Painting the bench-style seating for Amrita Hall (kids' project)
Painting floorboards for the Teen Tent (kids' project)
Placing a new roof on the Teen Tent
Inventory of the entire Amma Shop
Progress on building a new floor for the Amrita Hall snack shop

The Seva Team supported the day with thoughtful preparation and guidance for each project. The Kitchen Team served a wholesome vegetarian lunch, and the Craft Guild treated everyone to pie in honor of "Pi Day." The Sound Team set up the porch for an open-air evening program. At the end of the day, many volunteers stayed to enjoy the Saturday satsang, which featured a talk on selfless service by Br. Dayamrita Chaitanya.

M.A. Center, San Ramon is dedicated to Amma's ideals, including the ideal of selfless service. On Community Seva Day, volunteers served from their hearts to maintain this beautiful place so that all who come here can find a spiritual home.
