A monthly birthday is traditionally observed in India that is based on the moon’s position in addition to the annual birthday observed in the West, which is based on the sun’s position, According to the Hindu calendar, Karthika is the nakshatram (star constellation) in which the moon was transiting at the time of Amma’s birth, and so each time the moon returns to this spot in the heavens, approximately every 28 days, it is considered to be Amma's birthday. This day is dedicated to Amma and is traditionally celebrated by Her children across the globe by doing various spiritual practices.
Please join us at the MA Center LA to celebrate Amma's star birthday AT 7PM.
We'll be chanting:
- Amma's Dyana Sloka (Honoring Amma)
- Guru Stothram (Worship of the Satguru)
- Amma's 108 holy names
- Archana - 1000 names of the Devi (Sri Lalithasahasranamam)
- Bhajans
- Mahisharsuramardini Stothram (In praise of Devi)
- Arati
Prasaadam (sweet offering) will be severed after the puja.
Dinner will not be served
