Lawrence, Kansas

Welcome to the Lawrence Satsang

We currently hold the following events each month:

Kirtan and Satsang

On one evening, usually the third or fourth Sunday of the month, we meet from 6:00pm to 8:30pm to recite the 108 Names of Amma and hold live kirtan (devotional singing), with harmonium accompaniment. The bhajans (songs) we sing are found in the Amma songbooks, along with a few traditional Indian chants. We end the evening with an arati (ceremony of light), a brief meditation, refreshments and social time.

Archana and Puja

A smaller number of us meet daily, Monday through Friday, to chant the 108 names of Amma and the Sri Lalita Sahasranama (the 1000 names of the Divine Mother), then sing the Sri Mahisasuramardini Strotam and Amma's Arati. This practice takes approximately two hours. From time to time, we incorporate this sadhana into a longer Amma puja (worship service).

Both children and adults are welcome to attend all our events, but we do ask that those who wish to participate in archana and puja arrive on time and plan to stay until the conclusion of the activities. RSVPs are greatly appreciated.
