Welcome to the Cortes Island Satsang
We meet every Sunday at 757 Salmonberry Lane, Cortes Island at 7 pm. Some choose to come early at 6:45 to chant the 108 Names of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. We start with an opening prayer then have a short meditation followed by spiritual reading, personal story and/or prayer for world peace.
The main part of our meeting is spent enthusiastically singing devotional songs accompanied by almost as many instruments as we have people in the room. Most of us would like to continue singing all night long but we usually continue for two or three hours or until we sense someone needs to go home. We finish the evening with closing prayers and share blessed food offerings and some social time together.
We try to do a volunteer project every month. Some past projects we have done include:
- Indian Dinner to benefit Embracing The World's relief efforts in response to Japan Earthquake/Tsunami
- Collecting firewood for island residents
- Garden expansions
- Garden clean up
- Helping local families with moves
- Homestead workbees
We also try to gather for special celebrations such as Amma's Birthday, Guru Purnima, Holi, Krishna's Birthday and Sivaratri. If you would like to see who we are and where we live, please look at our photo galleries.
We would love to have you join us.
